Which Genshin boy loves thigh high stockings?
Well lets find out together.

A/N: I could never wear thigh highs. Not cause my thighs aren't thick, they actually are, but thigh highs aren't for me. Real pretty on other people though!
Kaeya has always had a fondness for looking at you but he seems very interested in you when you wear thigh highs. At first he was only looking, complimenting, saying they look cute on you. It wasn't long until he started running his hands up and down, feeling the soft material. Commenting on how silky smooth your legs are with and without them, but they're was a certain charm that they bring.
Itto nearly walked into the wall when he noticed what you were wearing. He'd often seen other women wear these but only you have been able to unlock this new urge within him. From the moment he saw you in them he knew what he wanted, to bite your thighs. And now just anywhere, in the exact spot where the thigh highs end so his bite mark is always visible, maybe just a tiny bit covered up.
Al-Haitham was the one who bought them for you, it was a gift he got on one of your dates. Honestly he didn't expect you to wear them right away, nor did he expect how distracted he would be when you did. As he kept staring at you he noticed he was having trouble focusing on his work. So he politely asked you to only wear these at home, that way it won't matter how distracted he is.
Scaramouche didn't want you to know he was paying attention to your new addition of attire. He did notice of course, he had perfectly working eyes and so did other people. Which was a whole other problem, he kept glaring at every other man and woman who looked at you with the same look he did. This didn't sit too well with him but he also didn't want to ask you not to wear them, he likes them a lot.
Dottore joked about you waring them during work and you took it seriously. As soon as you began noticing him looking you began to tease him by walking by him slowly, reaching up to a high shelf, smirking at him. It wasn't long before he reached his breaking point. He pinned you against the first clean table and urged you to wrap your legs around him and grind and to not take the thigh highs off.
Childe noticed as soon as you walked out and asking him to spar. Too bad he couldn't focus on anything properly, he was too busy noticing how nicely the thigh highs hug your legs, and how they're just a bit tight on you. Instead of sparing he manages to tackle you down and throw your legs over his shoulders. A smirk plays on his lips as he slowly starts kissing your thighs as you throw your head back.
Wriothesley doesn't stop looking at your legs for the entire day. He will do it very shamessly too, glaring at you with no intention of hiding what that specific clothing does to him. At the end of the day it's no surprise that you find yourself in his office, on his desk, legs spread open by his strong hands and his eyes almost feral looking. What he would do to be able to spend the whole day like this.
Dainsleif tries to be a gentleman and help you put them on and take them off every morning. Yet his hands and fingers linger more and more with each passing day. Soon he can hardly pull away from you without leaning in for a deep kiss and caressing your legs up and down as you moan his name. Eventually he does help you put them on, but not before taking them off before then.
Sethos knows it gets really hot out in the sandy desert and assumes that's why you put them on. However it soon becomes obvious to him that the real reason is to get him to look your way more often. Not that he doesn't look at you already, but now he tends to do it a lot more. Before he never thought that something so simple as thigh highs would be so captivating, it seems he was very wrong.
Zhongli appreciates all beautiful things in life, and yes, that includes the way your legs look in thigh highs. He likes to lay his head on your lap when he's feeling tired and catch even a few minutes of rest with your hands running through his care. The only downside to those moments is that sometimes his fangs catch on and rip the delicate material. Since then he's been a lot more careful.

flower crowns.
his quick thinking made him come up with one more excuse. saying there was one more stray flower petal on your head, when in truth, he had hoped to hear another three words that had held as much meaning as the ones you had just said.

author notes at the end!
There truly is no better way to spend afternoons. Laying in the grass, feeling the breeze as the wind picks up, the subtle rustle of the trees. And of course your friend, Sethos, by your side. He’d already gotten himself busy, running around the entire field and picking a few things out. What they’re for–you don’t know. All you’re sure of right now is how nice it would be to just doze off and…
“[Name] – I mean, your highness, come quick!”
His voice pierces through whatever peace you had lazing around underneath the large oak tree. You let out an annoyed huff, raising yourself up from the grass, supporting your body with your hands.
“What?”
“Get over here!”
The urgency in his voice has you standing up from your spot, brushing off our clothes for any dirt that had gotten stuck while you laid down. The boy was just a bit below the small hill, clearly hiding something behind his back. Even if you were staying all the way back, you can see the mischievous grin creeping up his face.
“Do I have to?” You grumbled. The heat of the sun was enough to make you stay in your comfortable little place.
“Uh–Yeah? Don’t be so annoyed now, we came here to hang out, not to just sleep everywhere.” He shouts, “You know what? Just… don’t come here if you really find your spot more enticing than me.”
You roll your eyes but get up anyway, stretching your arms above your head as you walk toward him. “I’m already up, too late for all that nonsense.”
He smiles, stepping aside as he shows the bundle of small flowers he picked all afternoon. A handful are yellow and red, a few being white, and some being pink. He looks so proud of it that you almost feel bad for being so hesitant to get up.
“...Is this what you’ve been up to?” You ask, crossing your arms. The wind makes a few of the small flowers fly away, but Sethos is quick to catch them and reach his hand out to give it to you.
“Yup. ‘Cause unlike you, I got somethin’ planned for us today.”
“The last time you had something planned for us, I almost got caught by the king.” You point a finger at him accusingly, your tone stern yet teasing. “You’ve got nothing but trouble again, I bet.”
He shakes his head, throwing his hands up in defeat. “No. Just flower crowns, see?” He brushes a few flowers to the side, separating to convince you that yes, there is nothing in here. Don’t worry.
You roll your eyes at his gesture, finding your spot in the grass and sitting down. Not without a grumble though–to which Sethos laughs at. He lets you pick out your bunch of flowers, you carefully choose the perfect color combination and all you leave for him is a mess of jumbled colors. He doesn’t complain, simply smiling and letting you work in silence.
“Already halfway done?” The boy asks, his voice breaking the quiet air between the two of you. You nod, although somewhat frustrated. You’ve been trying to tie the string together so the crown wouldn’t suddenly fall apart–but it’s proving to be quite difficult. Not only is the string too thin, but the flowers couldn’t hold up everytime you fiddled with it, a few of them would always fall apart when you tried to fix it.
“I’m so close to giving up on this.” You admit, letting the incomplete flower crown fall to your lap.
He reaches for your hands to grip on it gently, slightly encouraging you. “Can’t tie the string, hm? I’ll teach ‘ya.”
He moves to sit next to you, nudging your shoulder and your knees touching as he inched closer. Clearly, he might as well be using this as an excuse to be near you. But you don’t speak.
Sethos grabs both ends of the string, carefully looping it slowly and pushing his fingers out of the way to show you every step. You try to follow along, making an X, loop, another X, and another loop. Eventually, after multiple failed tries, you’ve successfully tied the crown together.
You smile, cheerfully exclaiming about your hard earned achievement. I finally got it! The crown is done!
He can’t help but appreciate how you’ve outshone the sun in his eyes. His breath catches in his throat whenever he looks at you, this is just another one of those moments. A moment of tranquility in the kingdom of Vehero–with their future ruler, at that. Your smile brighter than anything he’d ever seen–then, you notice. Quickly trying to hide your face from him, embarrassed.
“...What is it? Do I have something on my face?” You ask, completely oblivious that you were the reason his heart raced–he shook his head, smiling back at you.
“No, it’s nothing.” He mumbled. “Just… uh, admiring your skills. You’re quite talented at makin’ the flower crowns. Are you sure it’s your first time?”
“I mean, yeah. The maids always made this for me, I wanted to try it myself for the longest time.”
Sethos clears his throat, bringing a hand to his mouth before raising your flower crown up–pretending to admire it just to focus the attention back on you instead of him. “For a beginner though, this is impressive. You’re a natural at this.”
You laugh at the compliment, trying to brush it off–though you will admit, your flower crown does look pretty good. The wind picks up–giving you some cold air on a hot afternoon day. The rustling of leaves is heard, a simple sound you’ve grown to love, and a few of the flower petals go along with the air. A flower had unexpectedly landed right on top of your head, yet you haven’t realized it.
“Oh, stay still. You’ve got something on your hair.” He says, leaning towards you to reach out for it, unknowingly, you reach for the spot as well– brushing your fingers accidentally. He freezes for a split second. Sethos has held your hand multiple times as kids, even until now. What makes this any different? He quickly withdraws his hand, once again, clearing his throat. “Sorry, I–uh, I didn’t mean to…”
You notice his awkwardness, yet you think nothing of it–clearly, you weren’t as affected by the feelings that almost consumed him whole. “Careful, or else I might think you’re trying to get too familiar, Sethos.” You tease, yet it does nothing to calm his poor heart.
“No such thing, your highness.” He laughs, although strained, and he brings his hand to his flower crown–laid forgotten on his lap. “...Unless, you want it to be.”
“Ahh,” Jokingly, you nudged his shoulder. “You can be flirtatious if you really wanted to! Good to know. No wonder you’re popular with women.”
He shrugged, “I try my best.”
The flower crowns have been completed. Yours were in your favorite color–thanks to Sethos making the effort and scouring the entire forest just to finish your crown. His were… a mix of everything. Yellow, white, pink, and purple, yet he found a way to make it all work together.
“Look, Sethos.” You raise your crown, showing it off. “It’s adorable! Unlike yours, mine actually has a proper color coding, thank you very much.”
He laughs, shaking his head. “I don’t know about that, highness. Mine’s got more colors, it’s livelier.”
“Not at all, Tighnari said that having a theme with your flowers is better.”
“So now you and him are great friends? Have I been abandoned? This is a fate worse than death!” He shouts, falling down on the grass below him while the back of his hand is pressed to his forehead. You give him a questioning look–because how dramatic of him to think that you’d prioritize other people over your best friend. (Who is now pretending he died simply because you had mentioned the name of the botanist.)
You take one more look at his flower crown, all the colors jumbled up with no specific order at all. Yet, a voice in you says that his actually–somehow–looked better, despite being a mess.
“It’s not that bad, I suppose…” You say, looking everywhere but in his direction. “Put it on me, your future ruler says so.”
He opens one of his eyes, a grin splayed out on his stupid face. “Oh? And what if I don’t want to?”
“I command you to!”
“Fine, fine.” He sits up, gesturing you to move closer. “C’mere, your highness. You’re quite hard to please.”
Gently, he picks up his crown and puts it on the top of your head–trying to suppress the giddiness you felt. His hand lingers a little more than necessary, leaving you to wonder what exactly he was doing. So you open your eyes, and when you finally look at him, he brushes a stray strand of hair from your face and tucks it behind your ear. Grinning, Sethos leans back and admires his work, letting out a satisfied hum.
“There. Now you’re actually fit for royalty. No ‘thank you, Sethos?’ “ The boy nudges your arm, laughing. You weren’t ignorant enough to not notice the way his voice slightly shook when he spoke, the slight tint of red dusting his cheeks. All your efforts to hide your appreciation disappears–and you find yourself freely smiling at him.
“...It’s perfect.” Sethos tries to adjust the flower crown for it to be placed on the center, wishing he had some sort of camera to showcase this moment–his hardwork on his life's greatest wish, his biggest what-if, and his only love.
“Oh, so now you’re calling me perfect?”
“I was talking about the flower crown, your highness.” He grinned, pushing your forehead with a single finger playfully. “I guess the same could be said about you too. ‘I guess’”
He doubts repeating the word in a mocking manner would even help break the thoughts most likely forming in your head–does he like you, or does he not? The relationship between the two of you confuses you to no end. One day, he’s doing everything he can to get your attention, and he’s gone back to pretending everything he said was just because he was teasing you.
Naturally, you hesitate, thinking about what to say before the sun had started to set. When the orange glow casts on your face, you could only give him a faint whisper–thank you, Sethos.
It barely reached his ears. He had to strain to hear it, but he was glad he leaned in a little closer. His quick thinking made him come up with one more excuse. Saying there was one more stray flower petal on your head, when in truth, he had hoped to hear another three words that had held as much meaning as the ones you had just said.

"you two would make a very cute couple." Cyno smirked as you walked away "What!" Sethos shouted.
"Their obviously into you."
"No they're not Cyno."
Cyno scoffed at his persistence, he knew that you were into him. One, you'd tole him and two, it was incredibly obvious to anyone around. Even Tighnari had asked about the both of you. Still you both continued to deny the allegations of dating. But deep down you both knew there was something there .
One day a few weeks after the comment Cyno had made, you both were walking in the Sumeru desert. Your hands had brushed together a few times, but ultimately you decided to ignore it. There may have been a little sparks, but maybe that was just for you.
"Sethos?"
"Yeah y/n?"
"People think were dating right?"
"Yeah they do?"
"Well do you like me like that."
He stiffened at your words. He hasn't really thought that deeply about it. Not until Cyno had really bought it up. But every time he'd thought about you he couldn't stop getting butterflies. And archons had he thought of you a lot lately. It was never ending.
People swore you liked you liked him the same way but he still was scared. What if they were just rumors?
"Yeah I suppose..."
"You suppose?"
"Well I do like you okay."
"So they weren't rumors?"
"No. Not at all."
"Well so... So we like each other?"
"It seems so!"
You both stood awkwardly as the silence grew longer. Till Sethos grabbed your hand silently. He turned to face you, and seeing the blush on your face, let out a chuckle. He dragged you to his favorite spot, just bordering on the desert.
He leaned a head on your shoulder, tightening his grip on your hand. Neither of you wanted this peaceful moment to end.

Give me a head cannon about Sethos or Kaveh as elder brothers

I chose Sethos. Sethos would be the best older brother ever
He would bring his older sibling on camping to beautiful places all the time. He loves spending time with his younger sibling. He will help them when they need help, but he won’t spoil them. He thinks it’s important they’re independent, but still aren’t afraid to ask for help should they need it. He will be for the most part laid back, but he can be strict. He will learn his sibling everything he knows.
Give me a character and I will give them a random headcanon.

may i please request genshin men (lyney, tighnari, cyno, and whoever else you'd like to add) with a jaded and distrustful reader. they're hesitant to entertain the idea of a relationship bc they don't believe it's genuine, the reader is scared they have ulterior motives. they've been hurt before and aren't about to let it happen again. because of this they act kind of standoffish to any advances they make. how would they win over the reader?
multiple characters headcannons!
distrust.
characters: lyney, tighnari, cyno, sethos x gn!reader
author's note: finally doing another req lmfao how are you guys😭 oh yeah and i want to try writing sethos cuz i haven't seen much including him at all or is it just me???? nvm it's worth a try
♡ Lyney
-i think he would just accept it at first
-like "they don't trust me? well shit— i can't do anything about it"
-but lynette didn't want her brother feeling so sad because he'd annoyingly complain to her until they both died
-and she decided to kinda reassure him by saying that even tho the chances of you trusting him are low, doesn't mean that they're gone entirely WHICH MEANS there's still hope
-this makes him feel at least a bit better and that's when he actually starts making an effort
-he practices EXTREME and DANGEROUS magic tricks just to show them to you, not on any magic show for anybody else to see.
-extreme as in basically shoving a huge sword down his mouth, or as in literally throwing arrows in the sky, so that when they fall, they perfectly line out his silhouette, not hurting him in the slightest. because to him, apparently:
-near death experience=trust
-up to you if you trust him but honestly if i was that distrustful reader it wouldn't help lmfao
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✿ Tighnari
-i feel like he wouldn't be super interested in winning you over
-since like you literally don't trust him enough so what's the point
-but just MAYBE he'd try at least something
-he will try to win your trust by reassuring you when you need it, letting you know that you CAN trust him
-and that he's not a jerk or coward that would have ulterior motives
-so instead he doesn't rush you and lets you do what you wish
-even if you end up telling him to plainly 'fuck off' in the end, he'd be a little disappointed in himself but also he'd just accept it
-he won't force you into anything
-so in the end it'll all be up to you
-cuz he will do his best to show you that he won't hurt you in any way, and that he's loyal and trustworthy enough
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
๑ Cyno
-happy 1day late bday to him he's literally my 2nd/3rd fave
-i think when you explain to him that you fear getting into a relationship at all for whatever reasons, he says he understands but will definitely subtly try to win you over
-telling you random jokes every day hoping that it would maybe help in earning your trust
-subtly showing you he has no evil plan by being there for you when you need it
-he'll ask tighnari for advice, and the advice he will get is "how am i supposed to know? appear more trustworthy i guess? make better jokes?" to which cyno will listen but that's already what he's trying to do on his own
-he'll ask to spar with you, trying to earn your trust in yet another way
-he feels reborn when you even slightly smile at his jokes btw so yeah
-soon enough, you catch on that he's trying to make you trust him.
-and after that, in the end, everything's up to you
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
✯ Sethos
-is it just me but i love him sm i swear
-he will be persistent.
-understanding but persistent.
-not as subtle as cyno, but he will do it less often than cyno just because of the subtleness in the whole thing
-he'll definitely invite you on a walk with him throughout the desert like a few times a month
-loves it when you say 'yes'
-he will joke around with you, and make inside jokes with you, hoping that it means something to you
-maybe he'd ask you to spar together but would lose himself if you actually agreed(in a positive way ofc lmao)
-he's hoping so fucking much that he's presenting himself as loyal as possible to you
-if you don't want him in the end, that's completely fine with him
-but if you accept he'll look pretty much chill and happy with it but his brain and heart will be a mess lol
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
was sethos ooc???? idk
do i care?? yes (a lot, in fact)
either way i'm alright with how i wrote this

— OUR ENEMY, MY LOVER. (PART 2)
pairings, sethos x princess reader, royal au.
summary, "and now that we can finally be together, i promise to love you today, tomorrow, and forever." 5.2k words.
content, angst, hurt/comfort, happy ending, reader has brothers and a father for plot (no dialogue just mentions), heart-broken characters.
notes, finally bro!! this was so long to do... finally finally
The night air was cool against your skin, the only warmth offered by Sethos' body next to yours. You were both hiding behind a large tree among many others surrounding a small pavilion a little farther out from the palace. Away from everyone. Your eyes were straining to see anything in the dark at this time of night. “Sethos, I don’t see anything—”
“Shh.” You looked over to see what Sethos was looking at. Oh, and just a little over an hour earlier…
“You… you did? You found evidence for his cheating? Then, show it to me. Show me the proof.” Sethos shook his head.
“In the dead of night, you’ll have to wait. Thing is, Cyno doesn’t have a mission until the day after tomorrow. He doesn’t need to prepare tonight. [Name], he lied to you so he could see Nilou.” Your heart twisted. There was no way, right? “Don’t look at me like that. I’ll come back in an hour. Be ready.” Oh, he just couldn’t see the hurt on your face.
And now the pain on your face was much more than he could bear. You could hear quiet whispers of secrecy, because when your eyes adjusted to the darkness, you saw it. The last evidence, the final piece to the puzzle you'd been trying to solve for so long. Your face then morphed into a hollow expression, devoid of any hint of what was going on in your head.
“Mm, Cyno? When do you have to leave again? I miss you…” Nilou whispered as Cyno held her close. A romantic moment, one that you hadn’t shared with him yourself in quite a while. How could someone as sweet and innocent as her do something so selfish to you? Who knows?
“Two days. I told [Name] that I was leaving tonight, but I’m going to stay at your palace for a while, alright?” Cyno showed Nilou a softness that he never showed anyone, not even you. He smiled a little when Nilou hid her face at the sound of your name, seemingly perturbed. “Don’t worry about her, please. You are all I think about, I promise.” But Nilou shook her head.
“It’s not that…” She bit her lip. “But… Cyno, don’t you feel guilty for all this? She’s my friend, and your lover — and yet I can't keep away from you…” Cyno seemed to consider this for a second, but brushed the topic off, sensing Nilou’s worry. He continued to hold her, kissing her.
You couldn’t believe it.
The man you loved so dearly, cheating on you with your best friend. Guilt, although ever present in their hearts, even if only a little, did not seem to sway them to keep their desires to themselves. Sethos had to cover your mouth and get you out of there before you broke down, right then, right there.
—
Okay, Sethos absolutely adored you and everything you ever did. Even now. But, crying for the past hour over someone who, in hindsight, made it so painfully obvious didn’t love you anymore was the thing about you that Sethos… didn’t quite adore. Especially now that he’d confirmed it for you.
“[Name]? Hey, look here… [name]...[name]! Princess, I know this is tearing you apart… it hurts. I get it.” he murmured, snapping you out of your breakdown. He moved closer to you. “But why do you still bother with him?” You didn’t take it very well, when he told you to deal with Cyno.
“S-Sethos.”
“I know you don’t want to create drama in the palace. Believe me, me neither. I hate that stuff. Or… but… maybe…” he looked you dead in the eye. “Maybe you’re just too loyal?”
“...Sethos, that’s not—”
“Because if that’s not it, what is it?” Sethos tried his absolute best to keep calm. Not one for arguments, he always tried his best to keep all his relations positive, and especially you, who he loved so much, but this was really starting to get to him. “You know what they’re doing behind your back, and yet you just do nothing about it!” He let out an annoyed sigh.
“I love you, you’re my best friend. But I can’t keep watching Cyno hurting you,” His gaze hardened at your silence. “I just want him to stop hurting you; you don’t deserve this happening to you, princess.” He mumbled.
Even so, you weren’t so sure. You loved Cyno immensely, so much that a part of you was simply denying that Cyno didn’t love you anymore. And Cyno did love you. Just not as much as he loved Nilou.
“Sethos, I don’t know… you know that I still—”
“Still love Cyno?” he chuckled wryly, a pained edge to his words. “You hesitate. You always hesitate. Do you—” He swallowed. “Do you love him so much that you’ve become completely blind? Blind to others around you? To me? I love you so much. I love you. And you? You can’t see it.”
He bit down on his tongue, trying to stop himself from beginning an argument with you, but it was no use. His emotions were pouring out now, and as much as he did his best to suppress them, he couldn’t.
“Why don’t you ever notice what I do for you?” Sethos, a usually talkative and confident person, now seemed to you so small, and vulnerable, his good-natured attitude replaced with one of melancholy. He looked defeated. Hurt.
“I’m always the one you go to when you need someone’s shoulder to cry on. Will I ever be more than that to you, in your eyes?” His words were more directed towards himself, you noted. He looked back up at you, his intense green eyes now dull. There was a moment of prolonged silence. “But if I’m not worth it, I definitely understand how you view me now.” He stood up, his gaze not meeting yours.
“Sethos, don’t misunderstand.” You were both feeling a flurry of emotion. Him, vulnerability and anger. And you… your mind was playing something he said earlier on constant repeat. I love you. Not a platonic love, he made that clear with the way he looked at you; for only a second, soft. His words. You had to admit, you had at the very least considered it. Being with him.
“Don’t misunderstand what? That you would rather stay with a man who won't even look at you, than with the enemy, your best friend, who would do absolutely anything for you? Who’s so madly in love with you it hurts? You’re one of a kind, princess. A lovely, kind, beautiful princess. But I suppose the enemy of the kingdom should’ve known better than to dream of earning the princess’s affections, am I wrong?” he turned to the window, his back facing towards you.
“Don’t go, Sethos, please; let’s talk—” You got up to try and follow him to block the way from your window. He roughly pushed you to the side. A respectful man, Sethos was, he had never once raised his hand on a woman. Not that the shove hurt or anything, or was particularly harsh on you, but the action was just so careless. He seemed almost sorry for shoving you only a second later, so he stopped.
“I’m tired, you know? I just… wish that you would see me the way I see you. I’ll say it again. I love you. Really.” A dark shadow cast over his face, and he turned his head over to look at you over his shoulder. “Come find me when you stop holding onto your toxic relationship and open your eyes.”
A stinging, searing pain bloomed in your chest, and you winced, holding your heart in distress. You couldn’t stop crying for the rest of that night.
When the pools of tears cascading down your cheeks eventually dried, you felt empty and hollow. Guilty. Without Sethos’ presence, you felt just as lonely as you did before Sethos had made it a habit to come to see you.
His words weighed on your mind. It was true, wasn’t it? He cared about you, more than Cyno did. And not just as your dear friend, he loved you, romantically. How didn’t you see it before? You’d only ever thought of his care as friendly, but now…
The moon grew higher, painting the marble floor in beautiful streaks of light. You were still awake, and the only thing on your mind was him. Sethos. The enemy. Your friend. Was he still your friend now? Why did he suddenly confess his feelings like that?
It was like this for a few days, and those days became weeks. Sethos did not grace you with his presence, the growing bouquet of flowers starting to wither. You did think he was tired of his unreciprocated feelings — which, you realized, your longing for him and excitement to see him was actually because you returned his feelings — and he wished to move on. It was as though he’d vanished, and for a moment you considered if something bad had happened to him. You were also terribly lonely.
You often spent the night thinking. One night was particularly horrible. Guilt gnawed at you, and slowly you realized that you gave Cyno too much importance. You had to do something. Restless, you sat up. Your head hurt, and sleep was not coming to you anytime soon. Bleary-eyed, you continued your musings in silence, and suddenly…
An arrow pierced through your room, through the open window that you kept so Sethos could come back, perhaps as an attempt to entice him.. The arrow struck the wall, and stuck to it was a piece of parchment. In the dark it was hard to make out, but when you approached it carefully, you managed to identify the all-too-familiar handwriting.
The last remnants of sleep wore off, and now you were wide awake. Suddenly energetic.
My princess, I wish to speak with you. Come to the window if you want to see me. I’m sorry. <3 - Signed, S.
The little heart made your own heart flutter. Attached to the paper were some flowers, and now a little excitement filled you. Perhaps Sethos wanted to fix things up with you? You were curious. Intrigued! But… after five weeks of pain that you felt, why should you even consider it? You glanced at the window, bit your lip, and spent a few moments deciding… but ultimately you determined that your friendship with Sethos was too important to toss aside.
You pulled on a robe over your nightgown, and ran a hairbrush that lay on your dresser through the tangles of your hair hoping that Sethos would excuse your hasty attempt to look somewhat presentable. You clutched the parchment in your hand. Peered down the window to see him. Although it was dark outside, it was unquestionably your best friend. Sethos. He looked up after a second, but he didn’t smile at you. But his face unquestionably seemed softer. Softer than the cold expression he wore the last time you’d seen him. In fact, he looked rather sheepish, so you wore an indifferent expression to hide the fact that you genuinely missed him to the point that your heart ached. Cyno was something of the past now, even his constant absence didn’t affect you as much as Sethos did.
“Princess.” Relieved, he gestured for you to come outside. At this time? You’d never tried something like this before. You sneaking out. Usually, you snuck Sethos in. How would you get down, though? He seemed to have the exact same thought at the same time you did.
“How should I get down? Come get me, Sethos.” you whisper-shouted at him.
A contemplative look passed on his face, as if considering your request. “I suppose. You princesses are unable to do anything for yourself.” he rolled his eyes half-heartedly, before he climbed up the distance between the ground and your bedroom window within a few silent minutes with skilful ease.
He flashed his signature friendly smirk at you, a glint of playfulness in his eyes, and as much as you tried not to, you reflected his smile right back. He was back, and he was teasing you, just like he used to. Assuming your indifferent facade — although it was obvious you couldn’t keep up a front when it came to Sethos — you gave him a cold glare. Not as icy as you’d have liked, however.
“Why did you come back to see me after leaving me alone for so many weeks?” He paused, and then winced inwardly, and his face turned serious.
“You hurt me, [Name]. I don’t know if you think I'd cave in and come back so easily.” That hurt. He didn’t mean it like that.
“You left me alone for five weeks.”
Sethos hadn’t meant that either; he missed you just as much as you missed him, maybe even more. He’d needed time to think. And, right now, he needed to make it up to you. He placed a hand on your shoulder, and then he tried to forget the way you nearly recoiled— nearly.
“I don’t think I want to talk to the enemy anyway.” Just as you turned away from him, he snatched your wrist, effectively stopping you from leaving him. He looked determined — guilty, too — but he knew what he needed to do.
He let out a long, exasperated sigh. “Can you stop being the princess for one second? Can’t you put away that royal attitude? Because you and I both know you’re not refusing to talk to me just because I'm the enemy. Stop acting and let’s just talk. Besides, I wanted to take you somewhere. So come on. Please.” He glanced down the window.
After yet another moment’s hesitance, he decided to take matters into his own hands. He wrapped an arm around your waist, holding you next to him, and the next few moments were a bit of blur. He picked you up with ease, climbed out of the window, jumped out of the window, a few stumbles and tumbles… and then — your feet were back on the ground, the night sky hanging above you.
“There.” He cleared his throat, avoiding eye contact.
The biting cold wind blew violently, the chill of the wind in the night seeping slowly into your bones. “Where are we going, Sethos?” Sethos seemed to notice that you were cold. He smiled, draping his shawl over your shoulders before taking your hand. Telling you to wait patiently as he started to lead you somewhere. Taking you a little away from the kingdom.
The walk was long but comfortable, and your mind was occupied with your surroundings. You’d never seen this place before. Not like you had seen much besides your own villages, and even then it wasn’t much.
This part of the Hiravia Kingdom was truly mesmerizing, you had to admit. The forest.
It seemed to hum with life all around you, even at this time of night. The moon provided some light for you to look around, but even then it was dark and dim. You gazed up at the canopies, searching for sweet hummingbirds and robins that sang harmoniously. The path ahead of you was decorated in overgrown roots. Wildflowers sprung beneath your feet in vibrant hues. It was so different from the palace.
Sethos seemed as though he’d noticed your amazement, but he himself had been through here so many times. He knew the path he was taking. “What, have you never seen a forest before?” He asked you incredulously.
You shook your head. “I have, just not here. This place. Father doesn’t let us go into the forest… especially on our own. And even then, when I have my guards with me, it’s dangerous, Father says. This part of our kingdom… It's delightful! I can’t believe I've never seen it.” Accustomed to the grand and elaborate architecture of your kingdom, your palace, finished with veneers of gold and other lavish items, it was a stark contrast to the natural beauty of the world you’d never seen before. The starry night sky above glistened and twinkled as the two of you made your way.
At last, Sethos slowed down as you both arrived. Thick trees surrounded a small clearing, a small opening mostly covered by tall grass inviting you in. The clearing was hidden away, you thought. Like a private meeting place, and no one could find you there.
“You wanted to take me… here?” He nodded slightly at your question, never once letting go of your hand.
“I thought you’d like to see a sight in this world that I know you royals never see. Especially you princesses. You like it.” He looked down at you with a lopsided smirk, and sat down on the grass. He patted the space next to him. “Sit down with me, will you?”
Your nose wrinkled. “On the grass?”
“You're not that prissy, are you? Come on.”
“Fine.” You picked up your skirt, trying not to get it dirty, but the grass seemed relatively clean. You weren’t used to this, but Sethos urged you to sit down. You sat with your legs kept to the side awkwardly. Sethos found it funny how hesitant you were, but he supposed that he could understand. Not being used to this. But he got used to it, right? So why couldn’t you?
It was silent for a little while, only the sound of the wind howling and cutting through the air. Even with Sethos’ shawl over your shoulders, it was still chilly, but oh well. “Look up, [Name].”
Hanging above you was the night sky, clear of clouds. In the palace, the windows were closed before around nine, so you never really saw the sky at night, and when you did in wintertime, the clouds obscured the sky. Today, it seemed Sethos knew the full moon would be out, and looked so beautiful at that. To him, it was a pretty sight he saw often, but to you, it was absolutely breathtaking.
The stars looked so much brighter, as did the moon. Everything glittered, everything twinkled… Next to you, Sethos had also raised his head to look up, absorbing the sights, almost as entranced as you were.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it? Just like you.”
“Just like me?” You were used to Sethos’ affectionate teasing, he always had a habit of calling you pretty and would find any and every excuse to compliment you, but you were just that amazing! But now, after his proclamation of his love to you a few weeks prior, his compliments now had new meaning. He nodded, his eyes never straying away from the moon.
Silence passed. It was only him and you at that moment, hidden away in the clearing. It was peaceful. Comforting. Finally, after a little more silence he spoke. Uttering words you’d never expected him to say.
“I am the crown prince of the Solara Kingdom.”
He was quiet, but loud enough for you to hear him. You snapped out of your stupor. He didn’t look at you first, keeping his gaze trained on the stars above, his eyes half-lidded. You only stared at him.
And then he glanced down at you, his eyes pierced yours. “Not that I was supposed to tell you that.” Smiling at you as if he’d told a joke, he turned to you. The silence held for a moment longer, but the truth he’d always told you bit by bit every evening was slowly coming into place now.
“They never teach you about us in school, do they? They only tell you that our monarchy perished a long time ago during the beginning of our kingdom’s mutual grudges. What they don’t tell you, is that my grandmother remained. And then she had my father. And then my mother had me. None of my family is left, [Name]. Your books don’t tell you that the enemy of the kingdom is royalty, and has had to flee from Solara.”
Because Father and my brothers are set on destroying your Kingdom, Sethos. Your kingdom, and you. And my brother has taken the role of the King, as a start. You felt horrible.
And suddenly everything made sense to you. Why Sethos knew the forest like the back of his hand, why your family loathed him as much as they did… but he still came to you every evening without fail. At least when things were normal.
His voice dropped down to a quiet whisper.. “Do you remember what I said to you that night, [Name]?” I love you. And you did remember what he’d said to you. You’d kept it close to your heart. Nodding, you waited for him to continue.
“What do you think?”
What did you think? After the time he left you, you were heartbroken, yes — but a lot of your free time was spent contemplating your feelings, those feelings that you desperately had to sort out. It led you to think about Sethos in a way that you as a usually honest and guiltless princess, or so you were perceived to be, had never thought about someone, not even your husband-to-be.
Suddenly the late evening meetings, or even late night meetings, didn’t seem as innocent as you’d convinced yourself they were. Heat rises up in your cheeks just by thinking about it from an outside perspective, even to this day.
“What do I think…?” Maybe today you could repair your relationship with Sethos, and even he seemed to want the same thing. His eyes sparkled in the darkness. Loving Sethos… it didn’t seem like such a horrible thing. Quite the opposite, really — a two-sided romance between the two of you was just the thing you needed, and you were already healing from your heartbreak with Cyno. Oh, Cyno—
He took a deep breath. “Yeah. You never gave me an answer. Eh, not like it makes a difference, you’re Cyno’s—”
“I don’t love Cyno anymore.”
Sethos’ eyes widened at your admission. “You don’t?” He paused. He’d never say it, but… Sethos hadn’t expected that answer. A part of him felt that, maybe… you’d…
“You don’t love Cyno anymore?” He repeated when you stayed quiet, almost as if he was trying to process your words. Shock was apparent on his face, you loved Cyno so much it hurt you, but now you were saying something else completely. Shock was apparent on his face, but there was also a hint of something else.
Hope.
He looked a little lost for words, before he eventually spoke up, sitting up straighter and staring at you with his intense emerald eyes. Expecting an explanation. “Wait, really? You don't love Cyno anymore??” He faced you, a little smirk gracing his lips. He took your hands in his, pressing the side of his cheek against yours. Cute. “You really don’t? That’s… not what I was expecting! Y’know, considering how much you would say you loved him. Like, you really loved him…”
“Yes, because I realized I love someone else.”
He backtracked. His own name never registered in his head. He only stared at you dumbfoundedly as you said that. “Huh?” Someone else. It didn’t occur to you either that you weren’t as clear with your words as you’d intended, assuming he’d already understood what you meant.
You took his face in your hands, going through with your confession. Sethos did say he liked you… five weeks ago. What if his feelings for you diminished “I was thinking about what you said, Sethos.” Taking a deep breath, you continued. “The person I like now…”
“It’s you.” It’s always been you.
Shock registered on his face, and that shock contorted to disbelief, before his face finally decided to paint itself in utter joy. He said nothing for a few seconds, and then his arms found themselves wrapped around you. You hesitated, before relenting and embracing him back with even more delight.
And suddenly the doubt, the hurt you both felt, for you because of his absence and for him because of your insistence to stay with Cyno, vanished. Sethos truly loved you, and you realized you did too, your eyes unblinded, as well as your heart.
Your hug lasted a good while after that, Sethos feeling the smile on your lips against his shoulder. He nuzzled against the crook of your neck too, not wanting to let go of you so soon, not when this was the closest he’d ever been to you. Relishing it.
“So,” He began, clearing his throat. Reluctant to let you go, he stayed glued to you, wanting to hear your pretty voice again. “What do you think of all this? Are we…” He trailed off, but his question was clear.
“Together now?” You chuckled, warmth rushing up on your face. To be with Sethos… What a lovely thought. Perhaps now, it would be a dream come true? You looked up at him with those pretty and sparkly eyes, and it made Sethos’ heart jump in his chest, just as it used to. He smiled softly, before capturing your lips in a fond kiss, taking you by surprise, but you quickly got used to it.
“Yeah.” Together.
—
Now, you would've felt extremely guilty about cheating on Cyno with Sethos if it hadn’t been for his own cheating. So, no remorse there. Still, you knew it was better to end things with Cyno. Sethos jokingly encouraged you to expose him, but you wanted to sit down and talk.
Cyno must’ve felt the change in atmosphere when one day you told him that you wanted to speak with him, because as soon as he stepped inside your room you fixed him with the most accusing glare you’d ever given him, but he supposed it was probably that — he hadn’t been so subtle, he knew that. Just… you were so naive and loving that he couldn’t imagine you finding out, or maybe you did, but loved him all the same, but you didn’t.
You were not some helpless damsel that needed him; Sethos taught you that.
“Cyno. Sit. Down.” It would be a pain to keep the anger out of your voice, so you never tried. All the pent-up emotion seemed to affect you — mostly heartbreak, but these days the sadness had transformed into burning-hot anger, now you realized you weren’t going to cry over a man — and taking a deep breath, you sat across from him.
“Cyno, I know what’s been going on, so please don’t lie to me.” Instantly, he knows you’ve clocked him. “You and Nilou look great together, honestly. But if you’d fallen out of love with me, you should’ve said something.”
“I didn’t want to hurt you—”
“But you did.” He looked down in admission, he wouldn’t try to deny it now and make things worse. Still you didn’t seem too upset, just perhaps… a little livid from getting cheated on. The princess.
“I won’t tell anyone about this; it’s not like many people know about us… and those who do, we’ll tell them it was a mutual break up. After a while, you could show your interest in Nilou, not too quick though, or people will suspect. Tell her everything alright.”
He didn’t understand why you would want to protect them after how they’d hurt you, and voiced this immediately. “Why are you helping us out? I hurt you and then—”
“It’s nothing, honestly. I’ve… found someone else.” You looked away for a moment. Jeez, you sure seemed to like cutting him off today… but he didn’t focus on that. He noticed, specifically, your last words. Someone else.
He opened his mouth to ask you about it, but his voice didn’t let him. A pang of jealousy hit him, but he supposed it wasn’t fair to feel like that now. He respected your willingness to not embarrass them in front of the whole kingdom, although you definitely could if you just wanted to. He nodded, and left your room… and he’d probably never come here now.
—
Things have been getting better. Sethos’ secret relations with you only ever improved, and you could swear you were falling more and more in love with him every day that passed, and he could say the same thing!
“You’re amazing, and I love you, and I want to show you how much I love you.” One night Sethos came and told you, kissing the back of your hand as a chivalrous gesture. That night, he revealed to you that your brothers and father had made the decision to leave to another kingdom and free theirs, placing the responsibility of the Kingdom to him. Things would not be so tense anymore.
The cause of your sudden happiness was surprising to your family members, the ones that were still here with you, but they simply thought nothing of it. Cyno’s departure didn’t seem to sway you at all, but in truth…
In truth, one of the kingdom’s most notorious enemies, namely Sethos, had been coming at night to visit his lover; you, the honourable and lovely princess of the palace, now no longer engaged to the General. If anyone ever found out about your secret rendezvous with him, you could only imagine how people would talk…
…But as of late, the tense relationships between the Hiravia Kingdom and the Solara Kingdom were getting noticeably better ever since your Father and your brothers left. A deal might’ve been struck? Sethos seemed to be hiding something from you… a secret, perhaps? One that made him happy, no doubt. He smiled a lot more, he teased you a lot more. You wondered, often, what he was so happy about now that he was ready to become King.
And today, you’d found out why.
The atmosphere was certainly different… but not tense at all! There was a certain excitement flowing through the air, through the servants, your family members, you, and most importantly, through Sethos.
You were told that special guests would arrive tonight, and a banquet would be held as it was a special occasion. You dressed in your finest gown, ruffling it and picking up the skirt to twirl around in it in front of your mirror. You felt pretty. You were pretty. Still, the idea that ‘looking pretty would bring a better impression’ baffled you. When you arrived into the hall, everyone was utterly breath-taken, and you could hear the awestruck whispers of your beauty.
In front, there you saw it.
Sethos, sitting across the hall, looking utterly handsome in his luxurious clothes, and he’d noticed your appearance, looking as mesmerized by the mere sight of you as everyone else did. His reaction was a lot more special to you, though.
A representative from Solara, possibly a family figure of Sethos', spoke as soon as the murmurs died down. “Ah, Princess [Name]. It is absolutely an honour to meet you.” He turned to your family. Everyone around you grinned, including Sethos himself… just what was going on??
“We have requested for this royal banquet to be held by us in your residence to formally propose your hand in marriage to the next King of Solara, Sethos, to your daughter, the princess. What do you think, my lady?”

Genshin Men when You Invite Them in for Coffee
Pairing: Kaeya, Diluc, Itto, Thoma, Dottore, Pantalone, Childe, Wriothesley, Ororon, Sethos, Zhongli x Fem!Reader

A/N: I had no idea that inviting someone for coffee after a night out was code was asking them to bang. I learned this a few days ago. People will think of anything these days. Why would you involve something as innocent as drinking coffee into possible sex?!
EXPECTS COFFEE - Diluc, Pantalone, Wriothesley, Zhongli
He already drank some coffee today but he can always drink more. It might help him sober up after the drinks he's had on your date. The moment he walks into your living room he makes himself comfortable on your couch and tells you how he likes his coffee, fully expecting it to be given to him. Bless him and his handsome face and his blinding smile, after that you had to make him coffee just the way he likes it.
DOESN'T DRINK COFFEE BUT ACCEPTS ANYWAY - Childe, Ororon
Coffee isn't his favorite drink, he doesn't drink it if he can avoid it. But as soon as you ask offer coffee to him he considers having a cup, if you'll make it for him. He was that smitten by you that he was willing not to sleep at all for the rest of the night. When he found out that you didn't actually mean coffee but that you wanted to have sex with him he realized that he is in the same spot as before, he wouldn't be sleeping that night.
KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS AND IS FLUSTERED - Thoma, Sethos
As soon as he hears your suggestion he blushes deeply and walks into your home, head down. Heads in one direction only to be pulled in the other as your bedroom is the other way. Great, now he embaressed himself twice in a very short span of time, are you still sure you want to sleep with him tonight, because if not he will just take that coffee. When you pull him into a kiss he visibly relaxes, falling into your embrace and later your bed.
KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS AND LIKES IT - Kaeya, Itto, Dottore
Oh, he had a feeling you'd want to sleep with him after your date, and after the looks and not so subtle bedroom eyes you'd been giving him the entire night. He wants to sleep with you, there's no need to come up with these silly excuses. Takes you by the hand and tells you to lead the way to your bedroom, or the couch, or any flat surface really. As for that coffee, he'll drink it tomorrow morning after he wakes up next to you.

author notes at the end !
The sun had already begun to set, but your day was far from finished.
Being the future ruler of the Vehero Kingdom, you had quite the list of responsibilities. It wasn’t as simple as attending your classes on time and doing homework once you got back anymore–despite being homeschooled your whole life. No, you now had to help with managing the events, attending meetings, and political discussions. You have to watch your every step as even the smallest mistake may lead to war.
Now is a time where you truly had to be aware of everything you say. The annual banquet was just around the corner and you had prepared a hefty bit of it. So, safe to say that you have put in a ton of effort just to make this event possible this year. It’s not that your parents didn’t trust anyone to do it for them, or they didn’t have the time to manage it–you were of age now. Maybe it’s time you take part in these events, they said to you.
You’re tired of it, though. Incredibly tired.
In between your duties–you caught glimpses of a familiar dark brown haired fellow come and go in the palace; talking with the maids, laughing while playing cards with the guards, and leaving once more with his bag filled to the brim. Sethos, your kingdom's beloved messenger.
You remember telling him to deliver the invitation letters in the port's post office after the last group of messengers failed to bring it as they ‘lost’ them (they really just went to the tavern and completely forgot about it.) He’s quite efficient with his work–usually a quick trip to the port would be around 30 minutes by foot, yet he manages to come back 15 minutes earlier.
Ah, yes. His “secret power,” as he loved to say. Especially when the king, your father, compliments him for his diligent work and asks for his route–he simply shrugged and said “I just move fast.”
There he is, in the flesh, several doors away from you; your best friend of many years now. He’s come to teach you many things about the palace. Secret doors that lead to underground tunnels, hidden doors in the library… You wonder why he knows all of this.
You lean on the wall, shoulders shrugged as you crossed your arms and sighed. You couldn’t wait until night came around–changing into your silk robes and lying on the soft mattress while reading a book you liked, or falling asleep immediately.
“Your highness,” Dehya coughed, seeing your prolonged stare at the window. You hadn’t noticed you zoned out already–no wonder your eyes felt heavy. “Is something wrong?”
You shook your head as you faced the girl, greeting her with a small smile. “Nothing in particular, Dehya.”
She glanced over your shoulder, catching sight of Sethos immediately. And she grins. “Boy problems? Why don’t you go talk to him?”
For some odd reason, the idea makes you a little excited. After a really long day, a good talk with your… friend, would be pretty rewarding. Sethos is quite an entertaining person–you thought to yourself many times, questioning if he could possibly feel the same way to you.
But again, it probably wouldn’t happen at all.
“Ah, yes! Let’s go bother someone who is clearly busy. Great idea.” You roll your eyes.
“Come on, your highness. I don’t think he’ll mind,” Dehya takes a few steps closer to you, hand pointed at the window as she looks at you encouragingly. “See? He’s wavin’ at you right now.”
You went to look at the window–watching what was going on. “No, he isn’t.”
“Oh my god–just go approach him!”
“And I’m telling you, I’m doing something.”
“I don’t get paid enough for this,” Dehya puts her arms up in defeat, eyes closed as she looks down at the floor and grinned. “I’ll see you later, your highness.”
She walks away, leaving you alone in the hallway filled with tiles and marbles and old paintings that look almost alive. You stare as she opens the doors and goes to the many living rooms in the palace. A part of you thought that she was right–maybe you should. But you somehow couldn’t get the courage to.
“He’s busy.” You repeat–mostly for yourself.
“We both don’t have the time.”
It’s been a hectic day. You’ve walked maybe ten thousand steps today from preparations alone, you wonder how it would be like on the event itself. You’ve talked with the maids, told the band what to play during the dinner, you cleared the menu your parents created as they weren’t appropriate at all for a banquet, so you ended up creating another menu and checked with the chefs if they were possible. There were just so many more that it’s hard to list them all in your head.
Now, you were fresh out of a hot bath, some chamomile tea on the side of your nightstand. You were laying in your bed, wrapped in the softest blanket, dressed in loose clothing, and you had just finished reading your book. The night was cold, so your balcony was halfway opened to bring some air into your bedroom. The moon is shining on the carpet, it’s comfortable, it’s nice.
But you can’t sleep. Not at all.
Some thoughts are rushing in your head–and there are no thoughts at all. The blanket is soft, but you feel too hot, and when you take it off you feel cold. Your head sinks into the pillows but it makes you dizzy, your tea was too sweet and now you wonder if you somehow added too much sugar and ended up getting the energy to do things. You’re tired, but not at the same time.
Does that make sense?
On nights where you find yourself restless, your first thought is to go to the gardens. There, you’re alone, only with the moon's gaze and the flowers you tend to when you have the time. Tonight is no different. Once again, you’re looking up at the sea of stars above you to find comfort.
If being an heir to the throne was this stressful, you wonder how much worse it’ll be when you do eventually become their leader.
“In deep thought, your highness?” A familiar voice calls just behind the bushes, to where the swing is. Usually you’re all alone on these nights, but it doesn’t necessarily mean a certain someone joins you from time to time.
“Sethos,” you push a few stray vines from the tree, ducking down from the branches and looking at the white swing. “Apologies… for the silence. I didn’t notice you were here.”
“It’s fine, I didn’t say anything anyway.” He pats down the space beside him, moving a little to make more room. You smile, taking a seat and nodding a thanks to the boy.
Silence wasn’t uncommon when it came to the two of you. He understood your duties drained you socially and physically—which is why he usually fills the silence with his voice. Talking about his day, what he did, or reminiscing a little on memories from the past.
“You’ve been out and about, what brings you here at this hour? I’d be too tired to even make the trip.” His voice had a raspier edge than usual—proof of his exhaustion from the day as well.
You look at the sky again, “I don’t know, actually. I felt too tired to sleep. Quite odd, isn’t it?”
He laughs, the sound bringing a certain warmth burst in your stomach.
“I’ve got just the idea then.” The boy stands from the swing and it sways the slightest bit from the sudden movement. He reaches a hand to you, offering to help you up. “Wanna join me, your highness?”
“Sethos, my friend—I trust you, but… is this okay?” You held the ends of its saddle. With a huff, Sethos successfully brings the two horses you got for your 16th birthday out of the stables. Without alerting anyone at that.
He blows the flame in the lamp, leaving the room dark as you two head out to the streets. “Yes, yes. It’s fine, completely fine.”
Although, you're not the least bit assured. If your parents catch you sneaking out late at night–without a small group of guards with you–the scolding would last weeks. All Sethos is doing is taking your hand in his, nodding as a promise. We won't get caught, and you won’t have to suffer through their endless yelling.
The sounds of their hooves tapping against the stone floor echoes throughout the streets. It’s a sound you pay no mind to in the morning–especially during events, where there are more horses to count. But at night, everything just seems to be louder. But you push forward, seeing as your little friend is exceptionally confident that nothing would go wrong. Oh, to see the look on his face when he does get caught sneaking out with the heir of the royal family this late at night–it makes you curious. Would he feel guilty, or would he feel playful and try again another time?
“This way,” He whispers, redirecting the two of you into an alleyway. You know this place, you often head through here when you need to reach the gatehouse quickly.
Which has you wondering, where is he even taking you?
There are not many places in the kingdom that would require you to pass by this specific alleyway to the gates. Well, there are none at all. The gates have only one use, and it’s to exit and enter the walls of your kingdom with ease–so why is he bringing you there with not one–but two horses?
Is he planning an escape? There is that possibility, the only problem being that he never told you in advance–how were you to get clothes and daily necessities without any mora on hand? You didn’t even fill a single pouch with the coins, like what they do in drama plays when the main character elopes with the love interest!
If that’s the case, then is this some kind of proposal? It’s true that you find Sethos attractive–you liked the way he carried himself in conversations… his smile, the way he urges you to do the most random things. Like, five years ago when he asked you to play in the mud with him after a storm. Who even offers to do that as a pastime? Your clothes would’ve gotten stained with the dirt, but he insisted otherwise.
So he’s seriously asking you to elope with him, this is just insanity!
“Sethos–wait!” You stop in your tracks, holding your palm up to his face when he turns around. “Is there… something you want to say?”
He pauses for a moment, blinking in surprise. What, had you finally caught on? Did you figure him out, with the way he’s acting right now? Holding your hand, guiding you through the kingdom–gods, he hoped not.
He laughs, “What are you even talking about? Read too many fantasy books?”
“I just–”
“No, I’m not trying to kidnap you–or anything of the sort. We’re going out to a spot I know that could help you relax.” Sethos takes a few deep breaths, no doubt trying to calm his heart from exploding at that very moment. He puts your hand to his chest, looking at you with those bright eyes of his. “Trust me. I won’t do anything to harm you, your parents would kill me if I did.”
That, they would. But you don’t say it outloud. Instead, you gently nod your head and he smiles.
“Aren’t there any guards around?” You ask, hiding behind a crate–you can’t say the same about your companion, on the other hand, and the horse you’re with right now. (Her head is peeking over the tall crates stacked on top of another, but she looks adorable doing it.)
Sethos has his arm raised in front of you. “Well, yes. But look closely.”
You squint as you do, but you see Cyno–the highest ranking knight–lead the other guards stationed by the gates to a game of TCG. It was just a sight to see, truly, you knew Cyno loved playing the card game–but not this much.
You try to hold back a chuckle but Sethos catches on, nudging you with his elbow, his lips curving.
“Let’s go, before they come back.” The boy says, holding the lead rope and leading the three of you to the gates.
“Did you pay Cyno to do this?”
“Maybe.”
The first thing that greets you outside of the kingdom walls is the familiar blow of the cold night wind, the earth's somewhat comforting dirt smell, and the deafening sounds of crickets around you. Sethos helps you up as you hop on your horse, gesturing for you to follow him into the forest.
The air only gets colder as you move, racing through the trees as Sethos speeds up. If anyone would pass through the woods now, the first thing they would hear is the laughter you two are letting out. One moment Sethos is in front of you, the second you turn he’s already behind you, preparing to scare you.
You slow down when you realize you were all alone. The trotting of Sethos’ horse can’t be heard, and no matter how loud you shout for him, he wouldn’t pop out of nowhere. You thought this might just be an elaborate set up for another scare he was going to give you, but you’re shocked to see that even after a few moments pass by, he still cannot be found.
Great. It’s the middle of the night, you’re stranded in a forest and you have no clue how to get back to the kingdom, and you have no knight with you. You don’t even know how to use a dagger. This is exactly a plot for an assassination, based on the books you’ve read.
After some seconds of struggling to get off your horse, you pat her back as a thank you. You’re not sure why you did that, exactly, the gesture just seemed nice.
Then, the sound of rustling reaches your ears.
It was from behind you–as you turned, you saw nothing but bushes. It was quite dark–so except for the moonlight shining on the field right now, you could barely see anything past the trees. Maybe it was just a rabbit, it always is. So you turn, paying no mind to the potential danger that could lie beyond it.
Suddenly you’re tackled on the ground, rolling over the patch of grass as someone has their arms around you. You’re tense, trying to break free from their hold–but once you had opened your eyes, you found out it was just Sethos who had, once again, scared the soul out of you.
“What is wrong with you?!” You yell, though playfully–you try to get him off, but he wouldn’t budge. Not at all. In fact, he impossibly hugs you tighter.
The boy doesn’t respond, instead letting go and helping you sit. You try to brush off the grass on your clothes, and once you look up, a yellow-orange glow surrounds the both of you. Fireflies. There are about a handful of them around the field, they look like stars from afar, it’s a mesmerizing sight, really.
“How do you like it?” Sethos whispered, sitting beside you.
You smile, “It’s beautiful.”
“I’d hope so. I found out about this place when I was out delivering the letters,” He plucks something from the ground, then reaches for your chin. He gently makes you turn to face him, and you notice the orange glow reflected in his eyes as he does. He tucks a piece of your hair behind your ear, placing a flower right on top. “Is it to your satisfaction, your highness?”
The action makes your heart skip a beat–you almost think that the two of you were having a moment until he ruffled your hair playfully and looked away. You don’t answer the question.
“Dehya told me you saw me this afternoon lazing around near the guardhouse,” He muttered, his voice softly muffled since he kept his hand on his mouth. “I was actually chatting with them. A lot of the guards seem to like you now that you’re running around the castle more often.”
“Really?”
“They kinda look forward to seeing you now,” He hummed, “I guess the same could be said for me… Except–I was first, of course.”
“Oh, so you only liked me now, is that it?” You reached over and poked his sides teasingly, the boy laughed in response, trying to get your hand out.
“No–no! Of course not! I mean… I’ve always liked you, you know? But in like–not in a weird way.” Sethos looks away once again, but you catch a glimpse of the red dusting his cheeks. The boy was a liar, and you knew that.
He cleared his throat before speaking up once again, trying to clear up the awkward tension in the air.“A-anyway, how’s the banquet preparation going?”
The banquet was the last thing you wanted to talk about, if you were being honest. You came here to relax–not to talk about this again. You groan when you let yourself fall into the grass, Sethos turns his head from the sudden movement. He laughs, “Well, not a fan of the topic?”
“Talk about something else. I beg.”
“Okay then,” He reaches for something in his leather bag, he doesn’t take his hand out yet. “My friend, Tighnari. Oh, not to talk about it again but, you guys should totally invite him–well, his kingdom, to the banquet.”
You roll your eyes when he mentions the event once more, “I don’t think that’s talking about something else.”
“Anyway,” The boy grinned, trying to continue the topic anyway. “He’s a botanist, so he’s great with flowers. One day, he told me that if you pressed flowers, you could get a pretty good bookmark.”
He gives you said bookmark, smiling. “So, here. White roses in resin, since you like to read.”
Your lips curved as you received the box, sitting back up and muttering a thank you. A singular flower could be seen in the middle, its petals made to look as if it was still blooming. There were a few scattered branches around, and some leaves on the side for decorative purposes. The translucent resin only added to its beauty, it wasn’t too thick–nor too thin, definitely a bookmark you could use for your reading. You struggled finding random objects to mark the page you were on anyway.
“Thank you, Sethos.” You muttered shyly, “You just know everything, don’t you?”
You still held the bookmark in your hands, admiring the details of the flowers–the placement alone is already something to be amazed about. Everything fits perfectly, right to your preferences. You wondered if the flowers itself represent some sort of meaning–Sethos may not look like it, but he says things with hidden hints most of the time.
“How did you meet Tighnari?” You asked, glancing over the bookmark once more. “You mentioned he was from another kingdom, I’m wondering how you got to know him.”
He leans back, hands supporting his weight from behind his back. “Pure coincidence,”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah. Cyno and I got assigned to a mission, we were just going to accompany the King and the Queen for their afternoon tea time.” He continued, “Asked Cyno to come with me and walk around, we were bored to death. He refused and just stayed put. I walked around and saw the guy in their garden fiddling with the plants.”
“He was complaining about the placement. ‘The flowers won’t get any sunlight from here, and it’s way too unaligned!’ ” He imitated, you chuckle at his horrible impersonation.
You smile, “I’d like to get to know him someday.”
“Oh, you should! His skill is just impressive. Once you’re done chatting, you’re bound to know a thing or two about plants.” He grins.
“You know, you always seem to bring people like that into your life.” You say, “People who are really good at what they do. Tighnari with his plants, Cyno with–whatever he’s doing, and you with your… well, everything.”
Sethos turns to look at you, a look of disbelief and playfulness. “What? My charm? Come on, your highness. I’m honored but–”
“No, I meant more with your ability to just… click, with anyone. You’re not charming, not one bit.” You reply softly, seeing the way he looks almost sad with what you said–even if you knew he was just acting.
“Okay, maybe add the charm, too. You do have a way of making people comfortable.”
The boy chuckles, clearly flattered–but deflects the compliment with a shrug. “It comes natural to me, nothing impressive.”
“If you say so. I think otherwise,” You lay back down, looking at the stars. “But you are lovely to be around.”
Sethos is quiet for a moment, looking down at his hands–pondering your words. He had known you for many years now, but still, moments like this are… uncommon. Very rarely does Sethos open up to you, and the reverse. He thinks it may just be the exhaustion letting you speak freely. At the end of the day, you have a reputation to keep up as royalty.
He tilts his head, giving you that easygoing smile of his–a slight red still visible on his cheeks. “Someone’s gotta look out for you, your highness. I know Cyno or the other guards may just be more capable than I am, but–”
The boy finds a place beside you, laying on his side and turning to face you. “I have certain things that they don’t have. I’ve certainly known you for longer, I think that’s a plus.”
You can’t help but laugh softly, “I’ll hold you to that. Now you must follow me when I go to the market early in the morning.”
“Don’t I already do that?”
You hum, “Oh, I guess you do. You’re even more fitting, then.”
A silence, once again fills the air.
“I have much to do tomorrow,” You mumbled, eyes slowly closing with your fatigue. “Will you have some free time during the afternoon? Let’s eat lunch together,”
“I doubt it’s appropriate for a messenger to be dining with royalty alone.” He says.
You yawn, subtly stretching your back before rolling over to lay on your back, where you wouldn’t face him. “Don’t worry. It’ll just be like… friends eating together.”
Friends. The word is unfamiliar in your throat–It’s something more than friends, what you two have. Definitely not lovers, despite the feeling you get in your stomach when you see him look at you in a way anyone else couldn’t. You weren’t just friends either–assuming that the softness in his tone whenever he speaks to you was only reserved for you.
He nods, saying why not? You smile in response, falling asleep in the bed of flowers. It’s oddly comforting, actually, and quite cozy. You’ve never slept on the ground before.
“Your highness,” Sethos whispers, checking if you were awake. The sun had already started to rise, and the kingdom was starting to get lively once more as he heard the chatter of the guards just a little beyond the forest. He smiles, realizing you indeed have fallen asleep. He’s glad that you somehow found comfort, even if you weren’t at home.
He reaches to carry you in his arms, gently raising you up–careful not to wake you when you’re sleeping soundly. “Come on, highness. Hold tight.”
When he reaches to call for the horses, he wonders if you’ve ever stopped to think about what he truly feels towards you. It’s the saddest thing ever, that you don’t know his heart is full of you. He adores you more than words could express–yet you don’t have a clue, only because he never had the guts to tell you, not once.
Sethos walks towards the kingdom, you in his arms, and the lead ropes wrapped around his wrist. The sun shines on your face, and he wonders if you’re bothered by the sudden brightness, especially after spending the night in the woods.
As much as you hate it–he’s proud that you’re now the person organizing the yearly banquet. He knows how much you dread the event the day it comes, you hate socializing with people you barely knew. But he wishes that maybe you’ll change your mind this time around now that his friends would be coming along. People from the Akademiya, even if you don’t know them, he’ll be the one to introduce you to the people he also treasures.
Being the future ruler of Vehero, you certainly do have a longer list of responsibilities than he does. Although… he hopes that one day, his name wouldn’t be something on an endless list of chores.

Sethos x Reader
Where you are a scholar investigating the Hermanubis case
(maybe Sethos' personality isn't very canon? I wanted to make it a bit more serious so sorry if I changed his personality :()
The sands of Sumeru were more than vast golden seas. To those who knew how to listen, whispers of a forgotten time drifted on the wind, stories hidden in the ruins. To you, a scholar specializing in the archaeology of lost civilizations, those whispers weren’t a mystery to be solved—they were a call you couldn’t ignore.
You had spent months researching in the desert, collaborating with the eremites and other scholars of the Akademiya, searching for answers about the fragments of Hermanubis. It was on one of those digs that you first heard the name of Sethos, the mysterious guardian rumored to protect forbidden knowledge related to King Deshret.
“If you’re looking for Sethos, forget it,” a eremite mercenary told you one night as you shared a campfire. “He’s a ghost. No one knows if he’s real or a myth. But if you find him, don’t expect to come out alive.”
You couldn’t help but feel a chill, but curiosity was stronger than fear. You decided to follow the clues that led you ever closer to the ruins of Dahri, and it was there that you saw him for the first time.
Sethos appeared like a spectre in the middle of the sandstorm, his figure wrapped in a dark cloak, the mask covering the lower half of his face. His gaze paralyzed you: eyes green as a blowing flower, as relentless as the sands themselves.
“What is someone like you doing in a place like this?” His voice was calm, but his tone carried an edge that made you take a step back.
“I’m not here for you,” you answered, trying to keep your voice from shaking. “I’m looking for answers… about Hermanubis and the shards.”
Sethos didn’t answer right away. He studied you silently, his eyes sliding from your face to the equipment you carried: tools, scrolls, an ancient shard you had unearthed. Finally, he sighed and spoke:
“The answers you seek will bring no good. If you have any common sense, you will return to where you came from.”
Your first interaction with Sethos was more of a clash than an encounter, but something in his words—and in his eyes—told you that he was no simple guardian following orders. There was a weight on him, a burden you couldn’t ignore. Despite his warning, you decided to stay near the ruins.
Sethos didn’t immediately reappear, but you knew he was watching you. Sometimes, when the wind died down, you could sense his presence—a murmur in the shadows, a faint creaking in the rocks.
Finally, it was he who broke the silence one night. As you studied a fragment in the moonlight, his voice echoed behind you:
“I cannot decide if you are brave or reckless.”
You jumped, dropping the scroll. He stood there, his figure illuminated by the dim silver light. There was something different this time; the hardness in his gaze had diminished, replaced by a sort of veiled curiosity.
“Perhaps both,” you replied, slowly standing up. “But if I am here, it is because I cannot ignore what I have found. You understand, right? That is why you are here.”
Sethos did not answer immediately, but he did not leave either. Instead, he came over and sat down in front of you, his posture relaxed but alert. The conversation that followed was unexpected: you were not sure if it was your determination or your sincerity that led him to open up, but he began to speak, revealing fragments of his own history.
“My duty is to protect what remains of that era,” he said, his voice low and measured. “Not because I want to, but because someone must. The ruins of King Deshret hide secrets that could destroy those who do not understand them.”
For the first time, you glimpsed the man behind the guard. There was a melancholy in his tone, an internal struggle you couldn’t ignore.
“So why not just destroy the fragments?” you asked.
“Because I’m not a destroyer,” he replied, his green eyes meeting yours. “I’m a guardian. And because there are things that deserve to be remembered, even if they hurt.”
The following weeks transformed into a game of cautious trust. Sethos, despite his reservations, began to guide you through the ruins, sharing only the information necessary to keep you safe. You, in return, shared your discoveries, hoping he would understand that you weren’t there to loot, but to learn.
One night, as you rested beneath the stars, you decided to ask him a question that had been on your mind all along.
“Why are you helping me?”
Sethos didn’t answer right away. Instead, he looked up at the sky, his expression shadowed.
“Because I see in you something I had forgotten about myself,” he said finally. “A blind faith that knowledge can save us. Perhaps, by helping you, I can remember why I once believed the same.”
That was the first time you felt something deep forming between you, a bond that went beyond mission or duty. But you also felt the weight of his inner conflict: Sethos was a man caught between his loyalty to the past and his fear of the future.
And you, unwittingly, had become the bridge between both worlds.
Here is my masterlist, in case you are interested in any more of my work or want to send me a request <3

It was a simple enough experiment, really.
The Properties and Functions of Recreational Naku Weed Consumption.
A volunteer would consume a small quantity of Naku Weed in a controlled environment, and Wanderer would note down diversions from the participant's general behaviour through a set of questions as well as his own observation.
Difficult to mess up, easy to organise, all he needed was a willing party.
He really should've chosen better.
After a mishaps with the dosage (not in the least his fault), he's now stuck with a too-giddy Sethos, three days away from a monumental event extending an olive branch to the desert dwellers, where he was to represent a bridge between the two.
Worst of all, he can't quite place what exactly is different, only that anyone who knew him (and that's a long list) would notice something off and perhaps consider treason from the archon, jeopardising an already taunt relationship.
Most students in the Academia were ignorant and pompous and would be no help to him at all. Thus ensues his trek around Teyvat, pseudo-drunk Sethos in tow, on the hunt for a remedy in time for the festival.
Aka
Sethos drinks truth serum, except he's always so open neither of them realise that. Cue two oblivious individuals unintentionally flirting while trying to understand their feelings for each other while also hunting for a solution on time.

↤↤↤↤↤Cyno-Oneshot↦↦↦↦↦
Cyno's One-shot (because my sister said so and I can't be fucked doing it later) Modern Au
You loosely held your pen as you stared off into the distance as the substitute teacher spoke. What was she yapping about? You stared down at your paper and looked at the small doodles your friend made in your notebook. The corners of the page were a bit scrunched and folded up, and your notebook was a mess, yet that didn't stop your friend and seatmate from adding more mess to it. "Hey, why don't skeletons fight each other? Because they don't have the guts".
You heard a raspy cold voice nudge your attention back to class. "Eh? That one was alright" You smiled slightly and put your chin in your palm so you could face him. "You're saying I'm getting better? I guess practice does make better" He looked at you slightly more softly with his orange and honey-colored eyes. "Oh god no, no, don't tell me more jokes." Cyno's delicate fluffy hair rests on his shoulder he shakes his head and sighs. "Then at least pay attention in class-" Before he could say another word the teacher spoke and dismissed the class. "Hah, I didn't have to" You looked at him with a smirk, he just looked away and packed his stuff. "Nari pestered me to keep you up to track with the work." He replied to you slowly as he slung his bag onto his shoulder. "Huh?! He's that worried about my studies?" You looked at him in disbelief to which he shrugged his shoulders.
"I honestly wouldn't be worried but as far as 'cyno' you do well in some...stuff" Other than his horrible pun in the middle of the sentence you were thinking as you two walked out of the campus. It was a routine you two would walk back to your apartment and Cyno would stay awhile until your roommate would come back. Your roommate would tease the shit out of both of you, that bright green-eyed gremlin. Cyno noticed that you grew quieter so he shuffled towards you as he hid his slight blush. "Ahm, Are you a loan from the bank? Because you have my interest" He quickly snapped his gaze into another direction before you could see his bright red cheeks.
You smiled ear to ear before chuckling and poking his arm "Wow you do rizz jokes now?". You started laughing and lighting up to your comment.
Cyno peered at you in awe as you laughed and smiled......God I'll tell billions of jokes to see you smile and laugh. "Heh, I'll do any type of joke....to make you happy".

Yay I did it Anyway I found out the reason he makes jokes is to lighten the mood and all that, so I thought it'd be nice if the reason he told jokes in this fic is bc he loves your smile and lifting your mood. (So ye, this is from my Wattpad acc if you wanna check it out there)

Omg. I’ve been gone for so long, I have some stories to catch up on. So anyway I saw that requests are open and I just thought why not make one, you know.
So I thought about Genshin characters s/o needing to go to a stationary clinic for like 3 weeks, and they could barely communicate during that time. There were visiting times, but only 3 times a week, 1 hour long. What the characters noticed tho, was their s/o looking worse mentally and physically every time they visited and especially when they were finally out of that clinic, but s/o refuses to talk about how their stay there was. (Basically how it went with me when I had to go to a clinic for 3 weeks. I’m feeling worse than before)
I thought of characters like Neuvillette, Tighanri, Sethos, but you can also just do anyone you want :))
-🪶 anon
multiple characters headcannons!
you just need some time.
characters: neuvillette, tighnari, sethos x gn!reader
author's note: once again sorry this took a while i really hope you're feeling better now☹️ have fun reading this😭
✧ Neuvillette
-he had noticed you feeling very down while you were there, but at first he didn't want to think much of it, he didn't want to overwhelm you with thinking.
-especially at such a time.
-he decided to ask you one day, like to see if everything is alright with you.
-but after you just shrugged him off, wether you were uninterested or uncomfortable, he couldn't tell. so he didn't ask anything else.
-after you got out, he thought it was a better time to ask you again.
-"just a question, and please, tell me truthfully, how was your stay at the clinic? i'm only looking out for you." he tried asking.
-but seeing by your reaction and reply, "nothing special.", he understood that you didn't want to talk about it.
-and that's totally fine.
-but he was definitely a lot more generous than he already was, after all, he cares for you.

✿ Tighnari
-he didn't bug you a lot, either.
-mostly because he knew how to treat such things, he was basically like a personal therapist/psychologist for you at home.
-so he didn't force you to tell him anything if you didn't want to.
-he has asked you a few times after a while there, if you were okay, but dismissed it after seeing the way you reacted.
-thankfully, you got out and he took that opportunity to firstly calm you down from everything that has happened.
-and you seemed to have rested a bit, thanks to him, that's when he questioned about how your stay was.
-but you didn't react any better this time, so he just let it go and took care of you, made sure that you were healthy and safe.
-he's doing his best.

♡ Sethos
-one of the sweetest bfs ever trust me bro
-literally brought you whatever you wanted at the clinic, if you needed anything.
-but seeing your mood was going down time by time, he asked you what was wrong.
-you being you, you didn't tell him anything, feeling as if you would burden him.
-and he understood that, so he didn't question any further.
-but it wasn't until you finally got back home from the clinic and only looked worse than the last time that he saw you.
-"love... what's wrong? how was it there? was it that bad?.." and again, you refused to acknowledge him about how you felt and how it was there.
-so he didn't push you any further, just treated you 10× better than he already did.(and he's one of the best bfs literally)

Dancing With Visions - Not To Worry - Sethos - Jive
Author Notes: My first time writing for Sethos! The performance in this fic was inspired by Ashleigh and Ryan’s Jive to “Straight to… Number One” (Ducks Radio Mix) by Touch & Go on Season 6 of the USA “So You Think You Can Dance.” Just like the rest of this series, reader is female. I hope you enjoy.
If you would like to read more of this series, the fics can be found here: Dancing with Visions Masterlist
Type: Female reader/ fluff/ sfw/
Word count: 1312

I glanced over at Sethos uncertainly even as he walked out next to me. As laid-back and relaxed as ever, even though it was already our turn to perform.
But, honestly put, this was the singular part of our dance class that I’d been dreading.
When I’d first heard that the Akademiya was offering dance classes for the public at large, I’d been enthusiastic. And then, when Sethos had asked me if I wanted to attend one with him, I hadn’t hesitated at all before saying yes.
But now that it had come time to perform, I was beyond nervous and half-questioned my past decisions. Both of which were notable reasons for why I was relieved that I was here with Sethos rather than someone else.
If nothing else, I knew I could rely on him and pray that his relaxed demeanor would help me calm down. After all, I had no doubts in his ability. He was easily strong enough to lift me considering the way he did archery and had already proved that he could easily lift me numerous times during the class.
In fact, we’d done reasonably well throughout the class. Never the very best, but not in the lower ranks either. We’d stayed in the middle ground throughout, which was honestly one of the most comfortable places to be. Not standing out on either end of the spectrum.
I shifted nervously as we reached the center of the stage, and this time Sethos was the one who looked over at me. And his recognition of my nervousness was visible in his too-bright green eyes before a smile crossed his face, and he bounced his shoulders in a sort of shrug. Almost like he was trying to silently tell me not to worry about any of it too much.
The quick dance beat started before I could manage anything more than a smile in response as he shifted across the stage. Holding out his hand with a grin as the crowd became hushed and I slipped my hand into his slightly rough one.
He gave a light tug, and I spun lightly across the floor. Stopping against his side as I reached across his chest to take his other hand, only for him to lift me up and off the ground. Leaning me over so that my back rested against his leg, and I was looking up at him as he held me aloft. My own legs stretched upwards so that my toes pointed towards the sky.
And he took that exact moment as the time to grin down at me as I scissored my legs, suppressing the giggle that attempted to bubble out of me at his playful expression before he sat me back down and I stepped away from him. One of my hands staying in his and we slipped into the speedy footwork the jive was known for.
I spun around behind him, and he let go of my hand as I knelt in time for him to swing one leg over my crouched body before I popped back up. Holding up my hands as if to stop him right as the music came to a jarring halt, and he hit his knees. Looking up at me with that characteristic grin of his on his face.
I shifted, barely even able to suppress my own grin as I stepped forward. Closing the distance between us as I reached down with one hand to lightly tap my fingers under his chin as I stepped on around him. Barely pressing my fingers against his chin and causing him to stand.
And he pivoted, keeping his eyes on me as he straightened and reached out, grabbing my hand in his as we both braced for the beat to hit just like we both knew it would.
And the moment it did, we sprang into action. Dancing side by side and mirroring one another's motions as we matched the quick beat that now raced along as we kicked our legs and shifted our weight to the rhythm of the racing music.
It wasn’t long, though, before we were facing each other once again. Our hands interlocked even as we maintained careful distance between us. Stepping back and our legs stretching between us before we rotated and I spun out. Pausing only briefly to look out at our audience before I twirled back towards him, and he caught me. Lifting me easily into the air and spinning with me before carefully setting me back down once more.
I spun, reaching up and catching his hands in mine once more as he flashed another grin at me, and we started our quick footwork back up.
And as easily as that, he was helping me stay calm and not think about the crowd that watched our motions. Because, in reality, all that was happening was that I was having fun and dancing with Sethos.
Even as I jumped back up into his arms for him to dip me once more, I found that I was no longer as nervous as I’d been before.
I was having to concentrate on my motions, of course, and the audience was still there. But none of it really seemed to matter anymore.
He swung me on around his body, catching me in a bridal hold and dipping his head towards mine until our foreheads were almost touching as he grinned at me with a devil-may-care smile before he sat me down and I twirled across the floor. Leaving him to pursue me until he caught hold of my hand once more.
I wrapped one arm around him, and he did the same as we spun together with one arm extended as we kept one another clasped together until we stopped and I spun out. My arm still wrapped around his back as I looked over at him, and we clasped our other hands together once more.
And this time, I was the one grinning at him as we danced along before separating once more.
I danced away from him before coming to a stop and lowering my head. He jumped, doing a split over me before landing in front of me and turning with his hand held out expectantly with a wide smile on his face.
And somehow, despite my initial concerns, we managed to keep up our energy and the thrill of the dance until the very end as we slid from motion to motion. Keeping with the heavy beat until we stopped, both of us panting, with grins on our faces as the music ended and applause erupted from the audience.
I finally let the laughter that had been threatening to bubble out of me freely as Sethos stood from his crouched position. Reaching up and taking my hand as he stood. As if we hadn’t been holding hands for most of the dance.
“That wasn’t too bad. Think we aced the class?” His arm slid as casually as could be around me. Pulling me up against his side as he murmured his words into my ear, and I shook my head with laughter before looking over at him.
“Does it really matter? I’d say the experience is enough on its own,” He grinned at my words, bobbing his head in agreement with a strangely pleased grin and squeezing me slightly.
“It was definitely an experience I’d like to relive. Though maybe not with such a big audience next time.”
I snorted at his whispered words but nodded in agreement as we turned. Walking off the stage together, his arm looped around me, “Yeah, I can certainly see a lot of us dancing together in my future.”
His gaze slid my way as the next duo walked past us to do their performance, and he grinned, bobbing his head in easygoing agreement, “So can I.”

ScaraSethos Fluff One Shot
Scaramouche smelled like coffee when he arrived in Setho’s room that night. He had undoubtedly been working on his essays at the kafe, a fact supported by the ink on his finger tips. Sethos rises from the couch to greet his lover as Scaramouche walks over to him.
“Working late?” Sethos asked, holding one of his lover’s hands and bringing it up to his face to kiss. The other man’s body is cold and hard to the touch, not squishing or reddening under even the harshest of touches like skin should. Scaramouche lets Sethos kiss him, his eyes widening a bit. It took a long time before the two could exchange simple, yet intimate, affection like this. Sethos can tell that his lover is still flustered by the kisses, even after all the time they have known each other.
Scaramouche took off his hat and placed it on the couch. “I think it’s about time we head to bed.” Scaramouche took the hand Sethos was holding him by and swiftly walked him towards the bedroom. Sethos, already in house clothing, watched his lover undress until he was only in his undershirt and shorts.
Seeing Sethos watch him, Scaramouche pulled down on his lower eyelid and stuck his tongue out. “You’ve seen me hundreds of times by now, why are you watching?”
“I’ve seen the sun rise over Sumeru hundreds of times as well, haven’t I?”
“You corny bastard,” Scaramouche let out a harsh laugh, before climbing under the blankets with the other man.
Sethos blinks in surprise when he feels Scaramouche touch his cheeks after a few moments. He holds his lover’s wrist, but doesn’t stop him. “What uh, what are you doing?”
“You’re blushing.”
“You tend to do that to me.”
Scaramouche scoffs, and Sethos leans in and kisses his lips softly. He opens his mouth to say something else, but is given another kiss by Sethos. A small gust of anemo was blown in to Setho’s face, and it caused him to laugh.
“You’re an affectionate bee tonight,” Scaramouche sighed. Sethos cupped the other man’s cheek and smiled.
“And you’re an asshole, Hat Guy.”
“So I’ve been told.”
Scaramouche rests his head against Setho’s chest. The feeling of human skin tends to disgust the puppet, but not the skin of his lover. The other man’s skin is warm, soft, and feels almost like a blanket. He can feel the breath of Sethos blow against his hair, and he can feel a hand come up to hold the back of his head.
“Scara?”
“Yes?
“Why is your flesh cold and hard? Why don’t you breathe?”
Scaramouche nuzzles into Setho’s chest, attempting to avoid the question. But his head is lifted up by gentle fingers, so he is forced to face what he has refused to answer for the last several months:
“Why don’t you feel alive?”
There is no easy way to answer. Kunikizushi is supposed to be dead and forgotten, but there he was again. Scaramouche’s hands trembled a bit. “You’ll think of me as crazy if I tell you.”
Sethos looked mildly upset. “No, no answer. You know I won’t just stop loving you because of the answer.”
A trembling hand cupped Setho’s cheek. Scaramouche opened his mouth to answer, closed it, then spoke.
“I… I am a puppet.”
“I’m sorry, what does that mean?”
“Essentially a big, alive doll.”
“I feel I should have expected that but…”
Scaramouche cut Sethos off by holding on to his back, lifting him up so he sat up, and deeply kissing him. It may have been just another way of avoiding the conversation, but the warmth between them calmed the nerves in the air. Sethos separated, and Scaramouche tried bringing his head closer again, but was gently rejected.
“I feel you see this as a bigger deal than I do.”
“I- what?”
“I mean that I don’t quite care, I think you are wonderful with or without flowing blood.”
Sethos laughed, and his smile was back. That sweet smile that made Scaramouche feel like the sun was praising him. Sethos held his lover to his chest and flopped back down to lay on his back . The two laughed, the awkwardness of their previous conversation gone. Scaramouche rested his head back in the crook of Setho’s neck, listening to the other man’s breathing slowing. Sethos’ hand moved through Scaramouche’s hair in a relaxing rhythm until it slowed and later stopped.
When Sethos finally fell asleep, Scaramouche kissed the underside of his chin. “I love you, busy bee.”
